WHMCS License

WHMCS is the commercial platform hosting companies run their business on: it issues invoices, collects payments, handles support tickets and provisions accounts on cPanel or Plesk without anyone creating them by hand. A customer orders from your website, pays, and the hosting account appears on its own; when the term ends, the renewal invoice goes out by itself. Almost every company selling shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS or domains reaches the point where spreadsheets and manual account creation stop scaling, and that is the point the software is built for. It is licensed software, so a running installation needs a valid license behind it.

The license you buy here is attached to your server's IP address rather than to a key file. That removes a whole class of small problems: there is nothing to copy, store or lose, and installation is a single command on the server, where the script looks the license up by IP. Migrations work the same way. Instead of opening a ticket and waiting for an answer, you sign in, change the license's IP to the new one and it applies immediately, while the old address stops working at the same moment. Ordering is just as direct: the amount is deducted from your prepaid balance, there is no manual approval step in between, and the license is normally usable inside a minute. The same operations run over a REST API — create, renew and suspend licenses, and re-point the IP — so you can drive them from your own WHMCS installation or your own panel. Every order, renewal and API call is written to your account together with its result, so you can see afterwards who did what and when.

WHMCS comes in several tiers aimed at different sizes of operation, and the right one depends on how many clients you expect to manage and how much of the platform you intend to use. Compare the tiers listed in the panel; the current price appears on the order screen. A few practical points are worth knowing first. Because the license belongs to one IP, you cannot run it on a production server and a staging box at the same time. If the machine sits behind NAT, the license needs the address it actually goes out from. When you migrate, change the IP at the moment of the cutover, since the old address is dropped straight away. Monthly licenses carry no commitment: switch auto-renew off and the license keeps running to the end of the period you have already paid for, with no early termination fee. If you sell on to your own customers, a reseller account applies your discounted pricing automatically at order time, serves the install script from your own domain under your own brand, and lets you add sub-resellers with their own price list and balance limit.
